Dessine moi un mouton – quand foodbeam part en Nouvelle Zelande
[Draw me a sheep - when foodbeam goes to New Zealand]

I finally arrived in New Zealand this morning (or was it this afternoon?) after a lovely journey (have a just said lovely? – huml, weird how long flights affect your brain). When I arrived into my flat, the first thing I checked was the kitchen and I’m pleased to say that it does have a true oven. How great is that?
So that doesn’t mean foodbeam will be updated as often as it used to be, but I’ll try to do my best (who am I kidding? I could *never* stop baking).
Love

Thank you all for the sweet comments. They really cheered me up!

I’ve only recently discovered foobeam and I love it. Like you, I adore food and especially baking (by the way, the chocolate sables are perfect and tomorrow I will be making the sexiest marmalade which I am sure will live up to it’s name!)
Fabienne said something sweet:I’ve always wnated to visit NZ and was so envious when I saw you had arrived there. I have a book called Baker, full of NZ artisan bakers recipes, it’s so inspiring, I think you would like it!
I really look forward to reading about your trip, the food and what you get up to.
Have heaps of fun Fanny!

Hope you have a great time in Christchurch, Fanny. I lived there for a year and loved it, did lots of baking and thoroughly took advantage of the variety and quality of Kiwi food available. Make sure you join up with the superb Christchurch city library – if they don’t have the book you want, they will make sure to get it for you. I read my way through large piles of cookbooks this way.
Things to watch out for:
Cuisine: my favourite NZ food magazine
Lois Daish and Julie Le Clerc: great New Zealand food writers. You’ll find all their books at the library
Sunday morning Christchurch market at the racecourse: fresh food, lots of junk, plants and people. A great browse
Charity shops: where I got most of my pots and pans
Canterbury Cheesemongers: as well as fantastic cheese, they used to do pork pies every Tuesday…
Governors Bay Hotel: a foodie hideaway, just an hour from the city. They did good deals with dinner/b&b
Lyttelton Farmers’ Market: apparently going from strength to strength since I first posted about it’ arrival
Under the Red Veranda: a great place for Saturday brunch
Enjoy!
