As happy as Pirate - A new camera for foodbeam!

It seems I’ve said everything in the title.
Well, I know a camera isn’t stricly-speaking related to food; however I couldn’t help but share it with you.
Today I got the Canon 400D with the regular 18-55mm lens and the extraodinary (yet cheap) 50mm f/1.8 lens.
I am really excited and as happy as my cat Pirate who enjoys the last sunrays of the day.
ps. thanks Matt for being so lovely. I heart you!

How wonderful! I cannot imagine anyone more deserving of these gifts than you. In fact, my mind is blown that you have taken such wonderful pictures until now without an SLR. Your skills are phenomenal.

Ah un canon…oui ben voila ^^ (voui voui j’ai un nikon) par contre je suis un peu jalou de cet objectif 1.8 pour ce prix….j’ai un 1.4 manuelle, qui m’a couté un peu plus cher ^^biz

Congrats Fanny! I have the same camera and I love it!!! I am sure your photos will become even more extraordinary. Be careful though…buying camera equipment will become an addiction!

Hi there - thanks for all the sweet words. It’s make me even happier (even though i didn’t know it was possible to be this happy!).
Keiko - this lens is amazing for its price. I’m in constant awe when i see the pictures i take with it!
ps. pirate is a ‘he’
Suganya - i used to take all the pictures of foodbeam with a sony dsc f828. Not the worst camera to be honest; but i can’t believe how amazing the canon is.
Anita dn Tuki - haha seems this camera is pretty popular. I’m definitely glad I’ve bought it.
Love xxx

Yeah, the 50/f1.8 lens makes all the difference doesn’t it? Because the depth of field is so narrow you have to be careful to really get a tight focus on the spot you want and hold stable, but getting the beautifully blurred backgrounds is well worth it. You can still get good results up at like 3.2, that makes it slightly easier.
